The symbol is made up of two semaphore letters, 'N' for nuclear and 'D' for disarmament, enclosed in a circle to represent the Earth.

There were a lot of amazing things about the late 60’s and early 70’s. I studied graphic design at San Francisco College of Art from 1974 to 1976 and the peace symbol was everywhere ... from T-shirts to hand painted hippie vans. From Golden Gate Park to Haight Ashbury and beyond, it was all about ‘peace’. It was a time like no other. I’m pretty sure I didn’t wear shoes for 2 years

The era was famous for something else ... the ‘Jesus movement’. It was a revival that brought millions to faith in Jesus. Their widespread mark was the expression ‘One Way’ with a single finger pointed upward.... also found on T-shirts and handpainted hippie vans. You still see it once in awhile ... someone points upward which means ‘One Way’. I was reminded of it recently when I saw The Jesus Revolution. And, I’ve seen it in some contemporary gospel music videos of @PhilWickham and @BrandonLake.

George Harrison sings ... give me love, give me peace on earth ... give me light, give me life .. give me hope, help me cope with this heavy load ... briliant... it’s the cry of every human heart ...

This scripture assures us that we have peace with God through faith in Jesus and ONLY through faith in Jesus. Then the true peace comes.
